Dr. Desai is a board certified urologist, fellowship specialty trained in laparoscopic and robotic surgery for urologic cancers.
Dr. Premal Desai joined Comprehensive Urology Medical Group after completing a highly competitive specialty fellowship at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Arizona. While at the Mayo Clinic, he trained in robotic and laparoscopic urologic surgery specializing in prostate, bladder and kidney cancer, and also served as an an Assistant Professor of Urology.
Dr. Desai is a diplomat and board certified by the American Board of Urology and an active member of many recognized societies such as the American Urologic Association and the Los Angeles County Medical Association. He has numerous publications in prestigious journals such as the Journal of Urology, Urology, Transplantation, and the British Journal of Urology. He has given numerous presentations of his research nationally and internationally consistently earning him accolades from his peers. Born and raised in the Los Angeles area, Dr. Desai excelled throughout his education. He attended high school at Harvard Westlake in Studio City and upon graduation was accepted into a highly selective accelerated medical degree program. He completed a dual degree with honors from Union College of New York (Magna Cum Laude) and from Albany Medical College (Alpha Omega Alpha). Dr. Desai then returned to Southern California to complete his general surgery internship and general urology residency training at the esteemed Loma Linda University.
Although Dr. Desai has excelled in his surgical training and experience, he believes that providing the most compassionate care and working with his patients in a team approach are just as paramount to being a skilled physician.
