Mani H. Zadeh, MD. FACS is a board-certified otolaryngologist - head and neck surgeon. He is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS) and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). Dr. Zadeh received his Bachelor's degree at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he graduated with honors. He earned his medical degree from University of California, San Diego. Dr. Zadeh completed his general surgery internship followed by a residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the prestigious Columbia University in New York. As chief resident, he received additional surgical training at the world renowned Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center where he developed extensive expertise in head and neck surgery.
Dr. Zadeh provides an unparalleled quality of care and is regarded by his patients and peers as a leader in the field of Otolaryngology. Otolaryngology focuses on the treatment of diseases of the head and neck region, but Dr. Zadeh's specialty is in conditions of the nasal passages and sinuses. Dr. Zadeh's expertise in disorders of the head and neck has made him one of the most sought-after physicians in his field. Dr. Zadeh focuses on cutting-edge techniques and treatments that offer his patients the greatest results while minimizing risk. He believes the best approach is to utilize non-surgical techniques when possible to treat nasal obstructions, chronicly stuffed noses, nasal polyps, or diminished sense of smell. When surgical intervention is required, he applies the most advanced, ground-breaking medical and surgical treatments. Dr. Zadeh's is an expert with minimally invasive techniques including image-guided endoscopic sinus surgery, balloon sinuplasty, in-office balloon sinuplasty, and turbinate reduction surgery.
Endoscopic sinus surgery is a ground breaking surgical technique that allows doctors to treat chronic sinus congestion, nasal polyps, turbinate hypertrophy, and septal deviations. The endoscopic scope does not use surgical incision and is instead inserted through the nostrils. The endoscope has a camera attached that allows Dr. Zadeh to visulize the nasal passages without any incisions. CT guidance is used throughout the procedure to ensure there is minimal risk of damage to the surrounding tissues. Not only does CT imagery allow Dr. Zadeh to insure there is minimal damage, but also insure that the surgery is successful. Turbinate reduction surgery is a form of endoscopic sinus surgery as it is a surgery that is performed endoscopically.
Balloon sinuplasty is often performed in conjunction with endoscopic sinus surgery. Balloon sinuplasty is an advanced technique that allows Dr. Zadeh to open nasal pasages to drain the sinuses of those who suffer from chronic sinusitis. A catheter is inserted through the nose to the begining of the sinuses. The catheter is inserted into the closed sinus openings. When the catheter is properly placed, it will be inflated with air, forcing the sinuses to open. This allows the sinuses to properly drain. The goal of balloon sinuplasty is to reduce the frequency and intensity of sinus infections and bring relief to patients. This procedure is often performed in an outpatient setting. However, it has recently been approved in an in-office setting and Dr. Zadeh is one of the few physicians in Los Angeles who can perfom this groundbreaking procedure in the office.
Dr. Zadeh has been involved in multiple research projects exploring subjects such as sinus disease, head and neck cancer, and hearing loss. He is the author of numerous articles in peer reviewed journals and has presented his work at many national meetings. Dr. Zadeh is frequently invited to lecture on recent advances in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery and has won numerous awards for his teaching, research and patient care.
Dr. Zadeh has also been awarded the "Super Doctor" award for four consecutive years. Super doctors are nominated by their peers and recognized for their acheivement in their medical specialty.
